This blog is supposed to be primarily educational, but it will also be my platform to share some of my photographic and video experiments with the big scary world.
Mostly this will be a forum for giving kayak and photography tips and advice, often in tandem, but not always. I will focus on giving what will in some ways be general advice, in that it will hopefully apply to a broad range of camera types and brands, as well as kayak types. It will however be specific as to some of the tips and techniques. Please, feel free to ask questions and to ask for advice. Comments or suggestions for desired content on this blog are also always welcome.
I feel that the camera isn’t as important as what it is used for. Many of the major, and several of the minor brands are of comparable quality, with differences that are not too extreme. Some terms I use will not cross over from camera to camera, as my brands have trained me to their vocabulary, but hopefully understanding will be there. While the camera and the glass are necessary, they are only tools for sharing a photographer’s visions.
If there are subjects you would like to see addressed in this blog, or if you would like to get specifics on particular styles of paddling or cameras, just ask. A picture is worth a thousand words, but luckily this blog has both.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I really like your photography- I’m also a kayaker but hardly get the chance to get out in the water lately. And one of my goals is to learn how to do wildlife photography. So your blog was a great discovery and I will be checking back often!
It was my pleasure visiting your blog Gaia. You help tell the story of the world and what it needs. Kayaks are great places for wildlife photography, although you should choose where to paddle wisely, as some bodies of water are easier on photography than others.
I too go through times where I don’t paddle the waters all that I need to, but luckily I have been able to make it out a little more lately. Very happy that you enjoyed my blog, as I’ve enjoyed yours

Absolutely delighted to ‘find’ your blog by accident via a Twitter contact who took some photographs today of a seagull eating a starfish. As I’d never been aware they do eat them, I wanted to know how in heck they digest them. When I Google searched, your blog came up. I’m also subscribing and now following you on Twitter.
